New Generation’s 10th Anniversary.
A Day of light Celebration

Nueva Generacion (New Generation), is a Latin American youth organisation based in Lambeth, which will be celebrating its Tenth anniversary on Saturday the 8th of December at Vauxhall Community Centre.

Over the past ten years, Nueva Generacion has been an essential support base for many foreign nationals who have arrived in this country and have faced difficulties adapting to a new life in a new environment and culture. We aim to help people integrate into their new surroundings by holding many different workshops, such as drama, dance, Capoeira, percussions, poetry, photography and video through which we aim to empower young participants by boosting their confidence, allowing them to use their skills and abilities and to create a sense of belonging and participation.

We will be starting at midday (12.00am) with a Colombian traditional celebration of Farolitos, (a hand craft activity of lantern making for children) whilst a photography, art and sculpture retrospective exhibition will be taking place along with Video screenings. We will be offering workshop to everyone giving the opportunity to experiment with arts and craft making: Video, photography, Rumba-therapy Painting, Capoeira and Percussion. At 6pm we are offering and a traditional Colombian dinner for everyone.

The day will end with a Theatre Performance: Llorona material (a free adaptation Medea Material from Heiner Muller and La Llorona folk tale, this will be followed by a dance performance and a concert by Patacon and other surprise bands.

Our anniversary celebration is for everybody in the whole community regardless of their background or nationality who wishes to share our philosophy of integration and community support and to enjoy themselves in a day that has been ten years in the making.

Aniversario por los 10 años de Nueva Generacion, una celebracion de Luz

Nueva Generación, es una organización juvenil que trabaja con la comunidad joven latinoamericana a través del arte y la experimentación. El 8 de diciembre celebraremos nuestros 10 años en el Centro Comunitario de Vauxhall Gardens.

Durante los últimos 10 años NG ha apoyado a la Juventud latinoamericana que vive en Londres, usando el arte como herramienta de integración y empoderamiento de la juventud. Hemos desarrollado talleres de drama, Capoeira, danza, fotografía, pintura, video, escultura, percusión y música.

La celebración comienza a las 12:00pm con un taller para niños donde aprenderemos a hacer faroles, que serán encendidos en la noche como celebración del día de las velitas. Habrá exposición de fotografía, pintura y escultura; una retrospectiva de los trabajos de NG. Ofreceremos también talleres abiertos durante toda la tarde para toda la comunidad: video, danza, percusión, capoeira, pintura, y rumbaterapia. A las 6pm compartiremos una cena con todos los participantes. A las 8pm presentamos Llorona Material (una adaptación libre de la obra original “Medea Material” de Heiner Muller y el mito de la llorona). Después seguimos con la presentación del taller de danza y terminaremos con Patacón, un grupo de percusión afro colombiana, y otras bandas sorpresa.

Nuestro aniversario es un evento lleno de alegría, armonía y arte, una celebración abierta a toda la comunidad latinoamericana para compartir nuestra filosofía de integración y apoyo.
